While that was said in gest, I really do wonder if some who gave up did so because they didn't recognize pseudoprogression and the trials failed on the basis of PFS failure alone. I believe many potentially great drugs have been abandoned by lack of funding to resolve problems found in the trials that may have been resolved in differently designed trials, perhaps for different cancers. I don't know that we couldn't have achieved even better results in other cancers, however Dr. Liau developed this vaccine for GBM, it's probably a much tougher target than others that may have been chosen.

Personally I'd like to see what it can do in pancreatic, it's probably about as deadly and therefore should be a fairly rapid trial based on OS, the gold standard. In slow growing solid cancers trials based on OS could take well over a decade even with excellent trial design. We've learned a great deal in this trial, I believe that will benefit the trials the company undertakes in the future.
