I agree KyOil. One thing I was confused on concerning MJ01 was that they found an active petroleum system (Aug 16, 2018 update) but that the oil they did find did not flow to surface. Instead only water flowed to surface (Nov 20, 2018 update). This was a bit confusing because I thought since they found oil it should have flowed to surface WITH the water. As you stated they found oil at between 16,415 ft and 16,500 ft. which equates to approx 5,000 meters. But according to the Nov 20, 2018 update the only fluids (water) that flowed to surface was from two zones much higher in the well at 1,784 meters and above (in the latter update they use meters instead of feet). Seems they wanted to eliminate the possibility of oil at the shallower depths which is wise.
In re-reading both mentioned updates they were dealing with very high temperatures at depth resulting in the packer only lasting about 5 days (seems these high temps can be overcome and are being dealt with at even greater depths in MJ02...?). Expenses were much higher than anticipated including subpar perforation guns and charges from Israel that had to be replaced from US sources. Low permeability at depth seems to have dissuaded them from further testing and stimulation in MJ01 and instead they raised further funds to pay for 3D in order to locate the main reservoir.
Now here we are on the cusp of announcing a discovery after funding by a faithful few. Much more to say but gotta get to work. Thank you so much for sharing your informed experience-based input all these years.
