Iwas, I generally agree with the gist of your post, but differ based on my gut on 3 points, the last of which may be significant.
1) The main pressure they feared was that of the ASM more so than ASCO, although that too was a factor,
2) While I agree that they anticipated some shorting to try to cap the rise in SP, I think they misjudged how large and effective the short selling would be,
3) Most significantly, T highly doubt that the shorts have "blown their wad." IMHO it is the large biopharmas behind the shorting of NWBO and the estimated cost of the shorting of some $30M is mere pocket change to them, so unfortunately the shorts have not come close to "blowing their wad."
