There were clearly people prepared to take it down. They have their hands tied in terms of apparently the publication. I think they rushed to do it at the NYAS. I think they should have waited until publication was close or concurrent, which I thought was their original plan. Must've been a lot of pressure to just release it though. A lot of people naively thought that just telling people how great the data is would have some magical effect on the negative critics and shorts. But that is really not how it works.

Plus this was an extremely narrowcast release. So spreading false information now is extremely easy. Creating false impressions is now very easy.
