Amprius claims their batteries are the most energy dense on the market at 450 wh/kg. Their first deliveries went to an aerospace customer, suggesting that they are not inexpensive. They do have a patented 'nano-wire' design. The common figure thrown around is that a silicon anode is 10X that of a graphite anode, for reasons I either can't find or don't follow well, the Amprius "100% silicon anode" does not achieve the ten times greater metric. Perhaps that battery would be too expensive?
Regardless, CHS is what we're betting is the game changer in batteries. We know it will improve one metric immensely, and that is thermal budget. This is manufacturing cost. Who knows exactly what it is capable of producing in terms of watt hours per kilogram, but Coretec must have an idea of what is possible or they wouldn't be making the investment in developing their own battery, I'll be interested to read the patent filed last February (probably in the September time frame) to try and gain some insights.
