Holistic approach to strategic Lithium sourcing
5h
If Ganfeng has to withdraw there is little chance of developing the Sonora project.
Mexico does not have any Lithium expertise so will have to import this. And on top hectorite is a resource that so far has not been converted into Lithium compounds, i.e. a ‚new process‘ has to be established being quite a challenge in itself. If they try to develop such expertise ‚inhouse‘ which is certainly possible, we won’t see any Lithium coming out of Mexico before 2030. I.e. Mexico is sitting on a large resource without being able to exploit it.
It will be same as in Bolivia, paste a copy.
I definitely believe that Chile did a far better job with their Lithium resources, it is quite a benchmark on how to deal with resources. It makes sure that the country profits from windfall gains and that it benefits the communities.
