Weby--Exactly! You write: "If you're afraid of competition in this space, make sure you understand whether CA, verisign, or RSA have the OS expertize to work with Intel and MSFT to build a better system than Wave. Now why would MSFT want to help CA or Verisign or RSA to become stronger????? I think the gorillas actually prefer Wave because it will not compete with THEM!!"

Put another way, why would MSFT allow a competing Gorilla, as Lark Allen, writes below, to capture "the common point of cross platform Interoperability" (?). That "common point" is the SPACE where the Trust Domains of MS .NET, IBM WebSphere, Liberty Alliance, Nokia etc will meet and Interoperate together seamlessly. And also keep in mind that the financial transactions will also take place in that (client-side) SPACE. The Embassy OS will be in charge of orchestrating how the payment for the application will be divvied up and distributed to the various players involved in contributing(applets) to the application requested by the user. (It would seem though that the TPM would need to be integrated with the CPU chip in order to have enough juice to do this and at the same time engage in heavy duty encryption/decryption---but that is another post.)

Awkuhn was generous enough to share this Lark Allen e-mail to the board a couple weeks ago. It is very revealing, and supports Weby's point that WAVE's neutrality provides a very rational explanation why WAVE somehow ended up with the only Attestation Server being offered by TCG. Did ALL the Gorillas of TCG simply forget or perhaps just found it too darn technologically challenging to make available their own Attestation Server for TCG 1.1b? Or could it be that the TCG Committee engaged in cooperation on issues where cooperation was absolutely essential in order to successfully push through Trusted Computing?

"You are correct that all the participants in the entire technology and distribution chain does not want to be bothered with each chip, each PC, etc. so having a common way to deal with issues like usability, backup and recovery, etc. is a high order requirement. At the current time, based on the existing chips, PC OEMs, etc. Wave has focused on being the common point of cross platform interoperability, as well as the 'care and feeding' of trusted platforms. Ultimately, that will need to be more tightly integrated into standard functions, but for the time being, Wave provides the common point for TCG platforms."
