This is a continuation of the work I started with Simbol Materials (see below). Responsible for rehabilitation and permitting of Brawley facility “high purity plant”, electrolysis demonstration, process control (Emerson DeltaV) & IT infrastructure. Assisted CTO with design review of commercial facility FEL3 study and planning for possible demonstration plant. Currently part of the “high purity plant” startup team.
Too bad they went out of business too. Time to do something else!

Design, construction, start-up and operation of lithium chloride to lithium hydroxide electrolysis system, including:
• DC power supply system & integration into control system
• Copper DC busbar design electrical design & mechanical design in AutoCAD Inventor
parametric solid modeler
• Safety system to shut down the cell, provide nitrogen purge & maintain chlorine scrubber
operation in the event of a chlorine leak
• Chlorine scrubber design & permitting
• Synthetic Lithium Chloride production system
• Anolyte & catholyte loop temperature maintenance systems
• Portable skid design completed in AutoCAD Inventor
• Responsible for first production of 4% Lithium Hydroxide via electrolysis.
• Received Simbol "Extra Mile Award" for this effort.

New precipitation reactor & skid design, construction & start-up at the Elmore geothermal plant demonstration.

Design, construction & start-up of lithium hydroxide to lithium carbonate precipitation system skid at the Brawley High Purity Plant.

Instrumentation & control hardware and software for the above systems.

Responsible for securing permits from the City of Brawley & the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District for the operation of the Simbol Materials high purity Lithium Carbonate plant and the electrolysis demonstration plant. This included both the Authority to Construct, the final Permit to Operate and abatement system verification testing. Involved in negotiations with the California Department of Toxic Substance Control for importation of lithium chloride solution into the City of Brawley.
