Who is this American public and the world you talk about? Surely not the Baltic states who feel threatened by Putin's bully tactics. Also, Sweden and Finland now show interest in joining NATO for protection from Putin's bully tactics.
Nobody except TFG said Putin is a "genius" and "savvy" for invading Ukraine.

China is an on-going threat to the U.S., but right now they have their hands full trying to contain COVID and keeping their citizens locked in their homes.
You seem to think the U.S. cannot handle more than one threat at a time - you are wrong.
