You are correct. The timing has to be right. The right time is when they become profitable. Otherwise, the share price will drop dramatically if they split when not profitable. There will be a probable drop in share price anyhow upon the split because of how many people think so negatively of RS's. Those who understand this and do not bail will make out very well in the long run.
