Remember that Lightwave needs a an InP laser on a silicon chip and LWLGs polymer is compatible with both InP and Silicon. Three times the speed at half the power.

For the record an optical amplifier is just that, it is for the laser. Lightwaves driverless patent refers to the electric side of things. The electrons rolling off the Silicon have enough power to make lightwaves material flinch and embed the 1's and 0's directly into a laser. Lightwave also has a patent on a grate couplers to move the laser through to another level or off the chip.

This one totally has my curiosity peaked, pretty sure it is a duck.
