It was just remarks on the posted conversation. And since this a "Just Politics" board I included that subject in my comments. There is no oil vs "green", "green" won't have effects on oil profits or our dependency for many decades or more into the future, maybe never. It's not "green" that's effective here, it's greed.

As far as the politics of the US or Canada, or anywhere else for that matter, it is like a pair of Siamese twins. Cannot disconnect the two. One pays for the other, and determines policies for all. Just because there is a border, doesn't eliminate the fact that an oil company in Canada is directly involved and tied to our politics here in the US, mainly the GOP. And it doesn't matter if they pipe it, truck/train it, or just throw it over some border.

"Stable supply" is just another way to say "controlled supply for most profit and power" in our world of oil. It shouldn't be that way, but it is, has only gotten worse over time. "Moderate cost" is quite subjective, but that will be decided by the politicians and big oil very objectively. We have enough oil in the US that the US doesn't need to import from Canada for a "stable supply". But that's not how the system works.

And don't get me going on a lot that dirty oil from the tar sands that Canada is pushing to us. The destruction of the environment and human toll with that and the resources that it uses up in order to collect and process it, makes my blood boil. Mother earth's rath is not going to pay any attention to any border or politician, just like she didn't pay any attention to all the industrial acid rain we pushed over there to Canada. Or much different than all of our fracking. Generations later, it still has effects and the blatant disregard for life itself for profit will continue to have it's effect's for generations to come.

I see no difference whether someone is Canadian or American, in this instance it's all one thing and anything that is done with one, will effect the other. No disrespect BnB, but you sure can't disconnect the politics with how we get and utilize any energy sources, or what any cost would be.
