I am reluctant to go as far as saying "corrupt", or "bought off", because that implies taking bribes, without any evidence of such. What the evidence does show, that too many judges too often place their politics or personal foibles above their judicial oath.

They unfortunately decide matters on personal whim rather than objective facts and law. The result is lawlessness, a disrespect for institutions of law, and a lot of innocent people being hurt in the process.
