The frustration among shareholders is understandable but there must be a practical reason why the company has not provided a detailed update via a press release.

They did provide a limited update at their 2021 shareholder meeting and filed the presentation as an 8-K. In particular the presentation did mention work on a DOE grant awarded back in June 2021 focused on the conversion of halloysite to silicon for use as anode material in lithium-ion batteries. See slide 7 https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000008328/000157587221000406/app043_ex99-1.htm

On the AMNL Twitter page, the company posted two interesting items. The first was an abstract published by BYU that discussed a process it has developed to convert halloysite to silicon. The second post was for a link to a slide deck published by Argonne National Lab. The work involved the use of halloysite-derived silicon in a lithium-ion battery formulation. The Argonne Lab slide deck mentions BYU and AMNL as collaborators.

I think it would make sense to reach out to the company and try to speak with the CEO. He has answered shareholders in the past. The best email that I know of is info@appliedminerals.com
