They're following the same model Musk used when he launched Tesla - no surprise considering who the CEO of Lucid is. The first edition Model S was right about $100k - and that is in 2011 / 2012 dollars.

The cost of a new Tesla was one of the main complaints for buying one for many years, right along with the lackluster range of sub-300 miles.

The flagship establishes the brand, then they'll roll out the more mainstream models over time that will have more mass market appeal. But my guess is there will always be a super expensive flagship model, kind of like a Model S Plaid.

A nicely optioned Plaid by the way, retails for $151,440, doesn't offer the range or the charging time of the Lucid, doesn't have the same level of refinement for the interior, and frankly doesn't look as nice. (IMO).

I am in no way defending a +$150k car lol.. just saying, that if you are shopping in this price range - Lucid is in a strong position.
