Why do you think big pharma "crooked" would want a product that lowers the usage of their product.

Of course they wouldn't.

But... The fact is: You "control" what you own. (And - perhaps more importantly - someone else controls what you don't own.)

One reason "there's a Starbucks on every street corner in New York"? (I.e., why Starbucks seems almost compelled to buy-up every piece of available real estate of that nature?) "Because if they don't, a competitor might." (And now every consumer standing on a street corner is suddenly confronted with a choice.)

In other words: One could readily make the argument that it would be in Big Pharma's best interest to control [legitimate and viable] drug delivery technology IP of any sort. ("Hence the value of patents," by the way; but I digress.)
