thanks for digging that up senti. I watched it again and still love it!

Your wish is granted: The Who - Baba O'riley

I remember us geeking out a little when (I think it was) you posted that demonstration video years ago. Maybe you missed it, but I mentioned it the other day, and it kind of answered your question.

There are a number of commercially available automated cell processing systems that could be used for the cell separation step, (remember Flodesign Sonics?) but I’m assuming that Advent will use Northwest Bio’s patented technologies for the two most critical processes.

FloDesign’s “ekko” cell processing system has many applications, such as separation, purification, concentration, washing and harvesting. For NW Bio, it would do the same process as the tangential flow filtration, (only much more gently and thoroughly) and remove all the unwanted blood constituents from the leukapheresis material, and leave only the pure monocytes. I think it’s really amazing technology - maybe the “Lamborghini” of cell processing systems. Probably way above NW Bio’s meager budget, but I’m fine with a Honda though, if they own the patents.

FloDesign Sonics had that development agreement with Cognate back in 2018, and at that time, they were developing their first commercial cell processing system, so I speculated that Cognate would use it in the commercial production of DCVax. But alas, it wasn’t to be. FloDesign released the commercial ekko system in 2019, and the company was acquired shortly after that by Merck. (the German one) I think I posted the announcement at the time. Anyway, the actual system isn’t nearly as cool as the demonstration video:
