imo, Putin will invade whether or not the U.S. imposes sanctions now or later. As I said I prefer minor sanctions be imposed now and ratchet up when Putin invades Ukraine, which I believe is inevitable given his military now surrounds Ukraine and Russian battle-ready equipment has been moved into place, including blood mobile units.
This is a good debate and one with 2 clear sides.

At the Munich conference yesterday with NATO countries, Ukraine's Pres Zelinsky asked for public disclosure of sanctions on Putin now and for more aid for his country, asked an excellent question - "who is next?"
