E,

This was the time when BSEG was doing a lot of its work overseas in China and in some places of Mongolia.

This was because of Jimmy joining BSEG (around 2012ish), and his own company HiFex becoming majority shareholder as an affiliate.

Jimmy fostered relationships with the China State Film Group Corporation over the years due to his connections in Hollywood, and friends and connections of high level party people in China.

Jimmy was able to get his affiliated company HiFex with BSEG to do distribution deals in China, as well as production, and marketing work on some projects which I believe was the reason for those numbers during that time.

Also during that time many Hollywood actors were looking forward to doing films in China. BSEG worked with Bruce Willis on distributing and editing Death Wish to make it for select Chinese markets, as well as Air Strike. BSEG looked like they had an collaboration to a degree with Mel Gibson, and also worked on Papillion (Rami Malek, Charlie Hunnam), for the Chinese market. Stephen Eckelberry had BSEG work on a film acquired by HiFex Ozzy, and BSEG produced that for 3d theaters, and for Chinese speaking audiences.

Here are some links from that time:

Coming back home for work (which im glad they did before covid, as it set them up to be where they are today for expansion)
However politics over there proved very difficult to continue working there as the state clamped down on freedom of speech and creativity, and BSEG shifted its focus back to production, and content creation in the domestic market. Then covid hit, but during that time in 2019 and 2020 BSEG was pushing forward on many different scripts and projects, which are now being worked on in various stages of development.

Hope that helps some,

Best,
DT
