Someone mentioned that the increase COULD be new accounts from followers who have been blocked.

I am removing the protection from this account on a trial basis, but replies will no longer be permitted. Those who are blocked will remain blocked & my assistant will be on watch for disparaging comments/rule breakers on other accounts which will then be blocked.
