…the real issue is that 7.5B people all want to live their equivalence of an American middle class life – the influence of affluence. It’s unlikely the earth can support that many energy users no matter how clever we are in generating energy.
The foremost impediment to supporting the world’s population in a middle-class lifestyle is not energy, but rather food (IMO).
There is only so much arable land, and the available acreage is getting smaller each year. The only hope is continued innovation in agricultural biotechnology that enables crops to generate higher yield with less water and fertilizer. But, alas, the anti-GMO crowd will fight this tooth and nail.
