The only thing we know for sure is that they are not nearly as close as people think they are. That's because this is a giant scam. Exwannabe posted a link earlier to LP saying seven years ago how close they were. I mean, how many times can you listen to this crap? How many years can you go hearing them talk about how hard they are working and how close they are to the finish line before you start to question what is really going on? How many years can you go hearing them lay out all the processes that need to be completed? How many years of quiet periods can you endure? How long can you do this before you figure out it's all a lie? The only leverage they have to do anything is by keeping this trial going forever.
