The only issue I take with this comment is that if you add up all the backseat drivers together you get majority ownership of the car. The driver has an obligation to get to the destination but if she is taking a circuitous route, should have an adequate strategy for dealing with the passengers. Remember, the car does not belong to her. Periodically she will need to fill up gas at the pump and if the passengers no longer trust her no one will cough up the money. Then the car stops moving. If too many passengers lose faith and get off along the way, even if she reaches her destination, the journey should not be considered a total success as people were left behind. Remember, she is a driver, not Moses leading us through the desert for 40 years based on blind faith to an invisible God.

(Caveat, how many of the major passengers are engaging in backseat driving is unknown. Maybe a vocal minority, maybe not)
