I’m not sure how we could triangulate a headset maker.

But an interesting thing about a headset, though, if one believes VirTra is part of IVAS, is that IVAS requires some way to track weapons in the simulation. Almost assuredly there will be a box on the weapon with cameras which integrate back with the headset. This is called “inside out tracking” and from my reading seems to be the most accurate way to track accessories in VR.

This is speculation, but if VirTra somehow patented the tech (or is licensing the tech from someone else within the IVAS team) they would, similarly to what happened with recoil kits, corner the police training VR headset market for customers who wanted to use real weapons and not electronic weapons (e.g. InVeris bluefire).
The kind of difficult part would be why VirTra won the patent for it and not any of the bigger players who are part of IVAS. I suppose the likes of Microsoft probably don’t have a use for live weapon integration into their hardware…
