The only way there is an analogy with Theranos is if Zion new that the 3D said there was no oil, yet drilled MJ02 anyway. That is not likely as the Israeli Energy Ministry reviewed the 3D before granting the license to drill.

Wildcatting for oil is an inherently risky business; dry holes don't mean scam. The telltale sign for scam in the oil industry is collecting money and not drilling wells.
