I was reading something over the weekend that couldn't but help remind me of Judge Du's decision - the difference between correlation and causation.

There is no doubt that the number of shark attack and consumption of ice cream is directly related - the more shark attacks there are the more ice cream is eaten - less shark attacks less ice cream is eaten - shark attacks and ice cream eating are correlated.


Yet neither is the causation of the other. The causation is temperature - the warmer it is the more shark attacks and ice cream consumption occurs
