"A 70kWh Tesla battery uses 63kg of Lithium Carbonate Li2CO3, of which 19% or 12kg is Lithium.

That’s about 0.17kg/kWh in Tesla Batteries. Other lithium batteries of different designs may have more or less electrolytes w/ varying amounts of lithium but this is about what one would expect on average with a liquid lithium based electrolyte."


Lithium is currently around $28,500 a ton for Carbonate
Each tesla battery cost roughly $1,795.5 for lithium used in it
