Long, long ago, in a lifetime far away . . .

In ~2003 or so, my Brother-in-law just started investing online, shortly after I did. He subscribed to some obscure newsletter that picked Penny Stocks using a philosophy in which stocks with charts like ours, with charts that look like this, are to be zoomed in on.

IIRC, he did not even advise doing any DD on the stock - the chart is the market's psychologist and accountant, and the chart was all that mattered (kind of like William O'Neil, Jesse Livermore and Darvas Nicolas - iirc -,I think they all focused on the price action and paid little to no attention to the fundamentals (except maybe O'Neil does a little ???)


Long story short: The key is the Loooong fall, then a quiet volume, with the bumpy-to-flat base from 2015-present, followed by the pick up in volume without disturbing the base too much like btwn 2015-2018 on our chart. And then having a big burst in activity, like we did in 2021.

I happened to buy one goofy little stock (E'Prime Aerospace) like that on a lark, with spare change. It based around 5-10cents for about ~15 months, and then within a month it took off and I sold it for a 10-bagger.

2 hours after I sold it was delisted. But the company was junk. This one isn't.
