The problem is that such intensive Big Money (Musk) selling overwhelms/drowns the trading by retail buyers and buying. The shares being at such a high price is already unaffordable to millions of tesla interested retail investors.

I don't think his timing was appropriate. Not thought well. That's my thinking about it.

A better time would be right after the split.

Usually after splits with most companies share prices drop.

Tesla having a cult of followers and retail investors around the world, they would have jumped to reduce the impact selling after the split. The share price would have been reasonable for them.
