Maybe it is Reverse mortgages, where old folks with a paid off home receive a monthly or a lump sum of a percentage of the equity in their home.
Essentially the Company is buying their homes at a discounted rate and the origination fee is something like $10,000.

People cash out on their homes and keep living there.
When they die, the inheritors have to pay it back or the Company gets the home.
