Anavex Life Sciences Corp (AVXL)

SO I am a little confused. Why would AVXL send out an update indicating a release of quarterly earnings after the close on the day before Thanksgiving? Obviously they would know the mentality of the investment community would anticipate the impending results or updates would not be the greatest.

1) If the update would be negative, wouldn't it have been better to release the results not on that particular day, and if there is a decline or disappointment than so be it. Can't be any worse than it is now as this would be a decline prior to results and even worse if results are less than favorable.

2) If the result would be positive, trying to burn some shorts ( which you would have burned at a higher price anyways, or could this be a favor for someone to get in at lower prices.

Either way doesn't make any sense to announce an earnings release on the day before Thanksgiving and markets closed.
