Some things might prevent them from going to Texas or Florida as you suggested. They might be using a logistics scheduling program and big deviations might throw their ship availability/scheduling out of whack even more than it would be compared to the crazy delays in LA. They might have full (or empty) containers at the LA port that they have to pick up once they offload their current cargo. They might be contractually obligated in some way to deliver to LA. Their insurance policies may not allow for delivery to another port. Some other blanket coverage or cargo-specific coverage issues may exist. The cost of shipping the cargo might only prove profitable if they deliver to LA (other port destinations will cost much more in terms of fuel and personnel costs). These are some possibilities as to why so many of these ships are anchored outside LA. Like you I feel the bureaucracy in Commiefornia creates gigantic problems. My question is how intentional is this? Someone should have known about this. Did that person get fired or get promoted? Would laugh if this situation was not so serious.

As many of us on this board have discussed over the years, this inflation will kill many who are unprepared, on fixed incomes or who lack the intelligence and/or abilities to get through it. There will also be those who are prepared but fall prey to criminals. Murders, armed robberies, carjackings and other highly violent felonies are skyrocketing.

I don't understand how anyone could say most of us can afford it. No, we cannot. Seen what university costs lately? Food, gas, electric, natural gas and everything else is going up up up. Oh yeah, I forgot property taxes.
