The Rising Influence of Rising Affluence

Thanks wow. As much as I despise China, my heart still goes out to all of the poor Chinese people that seem to be on the verge of another Great Famine like the ones in 1959 and 1961(The Great Leap Forward) Tens of millions of poor Chinese starved to death.

China is suffering from a coal/electricity shortage right now. Poor people are literally burning clothing and corn for heat because they can not afford the high coal/electricity prices. This video made me sad:

Last week, China asked its people to stock up on food without telling them why. Panic buying has begun. Some think it's to prepare their people for another major lockdown due to a massive covid outbreak, or maybe preparations for war with Taiwan. I personally think that it's because they are running out of food.

Right now large swarms of locusts are devastating crops in the southwest portion of china.

The Northern part of china is being hit by an early severe winter storm that will destroy their crops to the north.

China was expecting a bumper crop for corn this year, but recent flooding has caused problems there as well.

China is already the world's largest importer of food since 2014, and I have a bad feeling that millions of poor Chinese people will die from covid, cold, and starvation this winter. Prayers up for them.
