Joe Dion made a proclamation of sorts in 2019. He is firmly behind the building of pipelines to allow oil from Alberta to be moved to overseas markets-the TMX being one of those. However that project is dead, Keystone is dead, the pipeline through Wisconsin is a point of contention between our newly elected president and the leadership of Canada. Even the Canadian provinces cannot agree on getting a pipeline built to the east from the west. Joe's vision, although it is realistic, in that oil is not going away for decades and even then it will seem to be necessary in shipping and airline travel, cargo air, trains, it is an industry that has seen its best days behind it. The interesting thing is mining has never come up in his vision for First Nations Peoples. Not even a blip in his vision but only a vague statement in February of 2021.
