Not my area of expertise, but if you want to look at it as a positive, I’ve always thought, and I could be dead wrong, that in situations such as these, investment firms sometimes have a sort of gentleman’s agreement when nearing a pivotal or significant event. The one that’s done the most homework and taken the most risk moves in first at whatever they decided the current bottom is and moves the PPS up at the end of buying, then the next firm with the next most knowledge and prior risk, then the next and so on until they tighten the coil and raise the price to a launch pad readiness. Then if positive news starts to hit, they all buy more and send the rocket on its way. If instead news fizzles, they exit in the opposite order. This way, they reduce risk for all and enhance potential payout for those that originally took the most risk.
