In 2019 the Matthews Police Department began researching possible computer-based simulation
training options. The goal was to find an efficient, realistic and cost-effective solution to
situational training. Computer-based simulation training was found to be the best option for
versatility, efficiency and consistency. Multiple vendors were contacted and on-site
demonstrations were attended. As a result of these efforts, VirTra was found to be a viable
solution.
