I'd like to point out...

...that they are probably updating the entire website, not just one small part of it. I think thats clear with respect to the kind of time it has been (and will continue to be) down.

That being said, my guess is they aren't going to launch the site until they have it just the way they want it. Having been part of several web-design projects in my younger years, I'm aware that there is a lot of input from several different people that gets passed over to the webmaster... then there are review meetings with the staff, then review from legal (which is a bigger deal when you're talking about this genre of product) , etc. Many times, an initial target for completion of a bigger site update can be missed, which leaves two choices:

1) Launch the website prematurely on the initial timeline, and not have everything in order... possibly still having issues like payment processing, etc. and making updates on the fly to an unfinished project.

2) Push the launch timeline to the right in order to ensure that the launch is in fact a functional finished project... and any further updates would be only routine (like adding the latest PRs, Podcasts, Products, etc. as they come in).

My guess is that they have a countdown on the site to give us a rough idea of when things will be back up... I'm not taking it as law. And if the countdown has some time added to it, all it means is that they've opted for option 2, and I wouldn't prefer it any other way. If it launches ahead of the countdown, I'll bet it's because it was ready and complete.
