So, you have no idea how stock options issued under an employee benefit plan work either? Ha!

First thing to learn is that they have a vesting period of up to 5 years, most are 4 years.

At the end of 4 years, the employee can choose whether to exercise the options. When they do, that's when the shares are added to the OS, not up front.

So, any options granted today, if the vest is 4 years, can't be purchased, sold, or added to the OS until the end of 2026.
