I have talked to both Pfizer rep and HLS rep as well as someone in the head office.

In less than a year Eliquis goes generic in Canada and the Pfizer cardiovascular division is left with zero products to sell. They don’t have anything in the short term pipeline for the Canadian market. They NEEDED a CVD drug to keep their CVD division afloat. They know the potential of V and so they approached HLS wanting to partner. Pfizer Canada’s CVD reps were worried about being reassigned to other divisions.

I don’t believe this partnership had anything to do with “testing the market” or some gradual takeover of Amarin.

That being said, it shows that Pfizer is desperately lacking in new CVD drugs and this is probably a global corporate concern.
