The ONLY shorts that exist here are of the Illegal Naked Short varietal. I’m a broken record, I know. But. There are so few LEGALLY shorted shares here (and certainly most/all of those are hedged by warrants) that they do not matter.

If somebody sells a share short and does not deliver it (naked), illegal or not the DTC is the party who will be on the hook if the seller just flies off to the islands. It is the DTC that reports these numbers to the SEC. The DTC has real reason to report this data correctly.

The official numbers showed a total of 1004 shares outstanding that were shorted and not delivered to the buying party. Those are the naked short shares, illegal or not.

This story about 100's of millions of these shares is pure speculation, though attributed tp LG by some posts.
