Well, for the six, I believe was the number of girls was who took blarcamesine for their Rett, in the earliest trial, two things happened that would calm nerves and suppress “neurorigidity.”

Very significantly, blarcamesine reduced glutamate levels, and at the same time increased GABA, gamma-aminobutyric acid. Glutamate excites neurons, causing them to fire easily and strongly. GABA does the opposite, suppresses neuron hyperexcitability.

For proper motor (muscle) control, nerves need proper levels of both glutamate (reduced) and GABA (increased). Watch, when the results of the on-going Rett syndrome clinical trial with blarcamesine ends (later this year), reduction of glutamate and elevation of GABA will be significant results; ones that will prompt the FDA to approve the drug for Rett syndrome, helping to promote or restore good muscle control.
