They failed to appreciate the partisan political appointment of Du to this judgeship. Seems to me like a case of ignorance to the sentiments that many Vietnamese have toward America, at least those that were born in and around the Vietnam war (which they call the American War). I have been trained by a woman about the same age as Du who comes from Vietnam as well and while her assignment in the consultancy role for the school district is to help teachers support students with emotional regulation techniques, she peppers all of her lecture with anti American sentiment. I know this is anecdotal, but my point is that people who come from the refugee culture out of Vietnam have been traumatized by that war and those experiences of loss, so why would anyone have expected her (a democratic appointee) to rule in favor of capitalism. She made a socialist ruling and she legislated from the bench. Just like she did with this recent case over immigration.

Amarin was so foolish to take a chance and have it land on her desk.
