Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) will be at its last year to support cancer research since its establishment in 2007 with a 3 billion-dollar foundation, as the second-largest cancer-related funding organization second to NIH. It provided roughly 200 million funds to different cancer research projects in Texas annually. To date, an estimated 72% of CPRIT’s grants have gone to fund cancer research, 18% have gone to early-stage companies to help get promising drug research off the ground, and 10% have gone for cancer prevention programs around the state.

So if you calculated 18% of annual fundings (~200 million) used to support start-up companies like MRKR, that is roughly 36 million. So MRMR took more than one-third of all fundings toward companies. I will say, that is an excellent job done by MRKR! This will significantly boost its cash flow which I predict will last till the end of 2023.

In 2020, there were about 10 companies awarded by CPRIT. The top three most awarded companies (>10 million) were either working on CAR-T or other immunotherapies.
