I very much agree with you Gary. Having worked in cancer research for over 30 years, I have seen some positive steps in treating a variety of tumor types and it is clear to me that it will take a multi-pronged approach to see further improvements in cancers across the board.

It is also the case that cancer will never be eliminated. We will learn to manage these diseases (as we have with CML) and with the increasing knowledge we are gaining about the underlying genetics of cancer sub-types and what factors trigger uncontrolled cell growth, I believe we will make huge leaps towards a far better outcome for patients with cancer.

Personalised approaches such as the use of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, CAR-T and DCVax-L +/- other therapeutic agents will form part of the journey in improving treatments.
