Why no side effects?

From your link:

"S1R is a 223 amino-acid long protein that shares no clear homology [structure] with any other known mammalian proteins. . . . S1R is more likely considered as an atypical ligand-modulated chaperone protein."

This may explain why blarcamasine seems to have no side effects: It is suited to interact with a target that has a unique structure, and the inference would be that blarcamasine cannot interact with other proteins because they are too different in kind from the S1R.

Given its unprecedented agonism to the S1R, blarcamesine may represent a unique key to a unique lock. At least until 3-71 comes along.
