The book hit the mail system today. Took me a while to get to a post office that was open when I had time to pass by.

the one I went to was one not too far and I'd never been in it. Things were looking good, especially the woman behind the counter (early 40's maybe and pretty without trying) and no one else in line.

So I give her the package, say I want to send it to Canada the cheapest way possible.

She says "international priority mail will be 15.40 euros"

Told her I didn't care about international priority, can't you send it on a boat or something?

She looks at her computer, no boats but different rates for live animals, books and...

I said that's it, it is a book.

She says it feels like a book, but she can't give me the book rate without seeing it before the package was closed, otherwise she might get in trouble.

I said no problem, it is just closed with a piece of tape, I can open it. I do, show here the book, she gives me some tape to close it, puts it back on the scale and says that it'll be 2.60 euros. I told her that works.

We're finalizing the transaction and she says to me, you have a nice accent, where are you from?

aw geeez... take a guess, you seemed so nice and intelligent went through my head but replied Canada. She was about to say something else when another client came in saving me from further conversation.
