Alaska politics, developing story that may adversely affect the mine. Dunleavy's potential opponent (the Gov has not announced his intentions for next year's election) is Les Gara (D). Gara applauds Alaska’s history of responsible oil development and mining, but is not in favor of Pebble. Because the current Gov has dropped the ball on his PFD promise, he stands a good chance of not being re-elected, if he even runs.
