Questions to FPI: (Re-post for the purpose of sticky.)
Concerning the ELD tests:

When a device is submitted for testing approval, and it fails some part of the test or tests, When it is resubmitted, will it gain approval upon successfully correcting that issue, or will it go back through the entire testing process again, to ensure that any changes made, had no unforeseen effect on the unit as a whole?

Also I would ask, because of the many units to be processed, when a unit is resubmitted after corrections are made, will they be processed directly after you receive them? In other words, with personnel limits in mind, will testers stop what they are doing, and start back to work on the resubmitted units?

Thank You in Advance for the answers to these 2 questions.

Response:
Thank you for your inquiry. Once testing is started on an ELD, it is first tested via a Road test (about 20% of the 453 tests required by the Standard). From this test, we will provide an interim report on which the ELD provider will have 30 days to do any corrective actions, if any. Then the Road test 2 (to verify modifications) is done followed immediately by a Bench test. All testing is done following a rigorous timetable so that all testing is put in a queue based on the submission dates. If a device is not compliant after the Bench test, the ELD provider will have to resubmit their device once all corrective actions are done.

This is a certification process, we are not trouble shooting devices, they need to be submitted fully compliant to Transport Canada’s Standards.
