Yep the jury found Toyota guilty because evidence presented during the case showed a bit flip caused sudden unintended acceleration and cosmic radiation is 1 cause of bit flips.

A cosmic ray striking computer memory at just the right time can flip a bit, turning a 0 into a 1 or vice versa. 



Electromagnetic radiation also causes bit flips.
