Am I mistaken, I was of the belief that stock options were being granted in shares, not so many dollars worth of shares. If I'm right, the higher the share price, the more they're worth. On the other hand if they're to receive a fixed dollar amount in shares, what you're suggesting does create a benefit for holding down the share price. I would think it violates what should be their fiduciary responsibility to shareholders to increase share price, but they can probably make a case that their strategy is intended to bring the greatest long term price, and it's hard to say they're wrong.

I do believe that bonuses should be awarded in shares, not specific dollar value. All the key players will be very wealthy once the results are in. The real question many be, do they want to remain involved building the company, or permit it to be bought out. My preference remains an equity partnership as I believe it will allow the greatest share price growth over the long term. If the management wishes to opt for retirement, they could still do so, allowing the equity partner to bring in new management. I wouldn't be surprised if LP choose to remain Chairman of the Board, while stepping down from the CEO position if she wished to be less involved with the day to day operation.

I believe that we're probably at least 4 months from any such action, and it might be next year before anything happens, but I do believe that something will happen. It's not impossible for the company to go it alone, but the funding and technical support that a BP partner could provide ought to have significant benefits, and the benefit to the BP partner should be huge as well, as stock price rise should give them a very healthy gain. It's very possible that such a partner will take not only an interest in the company, they may also gain a percentage ownership in DCVax-L.
